This Mother’s Day show your appreciation for your mom and mothers everywhere by “adopting” a rhino from the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary
In just a month or so, Ratu will give birth to her first baby. Ratu’s pregnancy gives great hope to the survival of the Sumatran rhino and represents the world wide efforts being made to save one of the most endangered species on Earth. The expectant father, Andalas, was born at the Cincinnati Zoo and was moved to Indonesia in 2007 with our hope that he would become a dad. It has taken a team of veterinarians, scientists, experts, and generous donors like you to make this happen, and the big day is almost here!
When you “adopt” Ratu in honor of someone special this Mother’s Day, your gift recipient will receive Ratu’s story, a rarely seen ultrasound photograph of Ratu’s baby, and a letter detailing your gift. Please join us as we work, watch, and wait for the big day to arrive!
2010 was a year of high hopes, hard work, and hard-won victories. Your belief that a small group of dedicated individuals can make a difference is essential to our success, and your support is critical to maintaining our momentum in saving critically endangered rhinos across the globe. The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world.Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
